Silvia Maria Spiess is an artist and designs paper light objects. I have known her for some time through friends and when I visualised the idea of the bus, I immediately thought of Silvia Maria! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We arranged to meet in September '21 in Kreuzberg at her shop (https:\/\/www.silvia-maria-spiess.de\/)<\/a> and quickly got down to business. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I really liked her works and exhibition objects \"STREET GIFTS\": springs of old mattresses with paper to light objects and my wish to Silvia was quickly formulated clearly! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here is Silvia Maria's description of her art:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STREET GIFTS<\/strong>\n\"The recyclable material paper in its various forms and sustainability as a leitmotif for lifestyle and artistic work have always been central aspects of my art.\nInspired by \"trash art\", in which waste is decontextualised and becomes a material for art, I use the springs of discarded mattresses in my new STREET GIFTS light object collection - a \"gift from the street\", so to speak.<\/em><\/pre>\n\n\n\n
I redesign these supposedly worthless legacies of the affluent society and integrate them into the light objects of the STREET GIFTS series, picking up on the theme of rust again, as I did in my LIGHT METALL series (2019). In the artistic process, I use specially produced paper and work out the individual feathers in such a way that they become the central design element. The materials used in my objects consistently follow the leitmotif of sustainability.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
The finished works are reminiscent of honeycombs due to the techniques used and therefore already have the focus on sustainability in their design.\"<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here's another small object across the table. The cardboard thing is a template for the ceiling bend for Silvia, because once the paper is on the springs, the object can no longer be bent...<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Silvia Maria Spiess ist K\u00fcnstlerin und designed Papier Licht Objekte.
